Accessibility
Our Commitment
shellify is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe every customer deserves an equal shopping experience regardless of ability, and we continually work to improve the usability of our site for all visitors.
Standards We Follow
Our goal is to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level A and AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), as well as applicable regulations including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
These guidelines provide the foundation for making web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
What We've Implemented
- Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard. A skip-to-content link allows keyboard users to bypass the navigation.
- Focus indicators — Visible focus outlines appear on all interactive elements during keyboard navigation so users always know where they are on the page.
- Color contrast — Text and UI elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds to ensure readability.
- Screen reader support — Proper ARIA attributes, landmark regions, and semantic HTML are used throughout so assistive technologies can accurately convey the interface to users.
- Reduced motion — Animations are minimized or stopped entirely for users who have enabled the "reduce motion" preference in their operating system.
- Text alternatives — Images include descriptive alt text where meaningful, and decorative images are marked accordingly so screen readers skip them.
- Dialog management — Modal overlays such as the shopping cart trap focus within the dialog, close with the Escape key, and return focus to the triggering element when dismissed.
Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly review our site against WCAG guidelines and make improvements as we add new features. If you encounter any barriers or have suggestions for how we can improve, we welcome your feedback.
